Gavin and Brigitte have been working toward planting New Springs Church in the Coral Springs/Parkland area of Florida since early 2018 – the area where they both grew up. They both feel extremely blessed to see God’s faithfulness play out so tremendously in our growing church! They have one son, Braxton, who is a year and a half and are expecting a baby girl in January 2020!

Gavin recently completed his Master’s in Biblical Studies courses through Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando and will be officially receiving his degree soon. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry from Leavell College of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a licensed preacher in the South Florida Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Gavin also works as a high school Bible teacher at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale.

Bivo-PLANTER jimmy and Lisa Paugh

Jimmy and Lisa Paugh grew up in Coral Springs and Parkland, FL, and met back in their college days.  They will be celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary this year, and stay very busy with 3 boys (and another baby on the way!).  They really enjoy their family time, and love spending time with friends, hitting up all the local parks, and trying out local restaurants.

Jimmy and Lisa both attended Florida Atlantic University - Lisa graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology back in 2005, and worked as a middle school teacher up until they had their first son, Jackson (now almost 7!).  As the babies keep coming, she stays very busy “working” from home, caring for the family while also working a few side businesses she loves. In her little free time, Lisa enjoys taking pictures, having family dance parties, spending time in devotionals with her boys, and dating Jimmy!

Jimmy is a firefighter for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and had quite the different college experience.  When he got hired by the fire department, he stopped schooling for a time, but has since completed his Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry from Trinity International University, He is currently working towards his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Jimmy serves as a Chaplain for the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and has a heart for bivocational ministry and discipleship. As a bivocational church planter, he hopes to help establish New Springs Church and bivocational ministry in the local church. Bivoministry.com is his newest venture to further his mission to affirm, encourage, and equip bivocational ministry within the local church.

Jimmy and Lisa have spent many years serving together leading various Singles Groups and Young Married Groups, and have prayed and sought God’s will on where to lead their growing family.  Their main passion and purpose is serving others, sharing the gospel, being a light of Christ, and teaching their boys to serve and love the Lord with all their hearts.

It has taken many conversations, kneeling prayers, tears of joy and sadness, growth, learning, mistakes, busyness, trust, faith, and many more prayers to get Jimmy and Lisa to where they are today.  They are trusting God’s call upon their life to help plant New Springs Church, and are confident God will continue to use them and their family to live out and share the gospel in South Florida. Whether it be teaching, leading, preaching, or just loving on people, outreach, delivering meals, meeting together to pray over friends - whatever it may be, they enjoying serving and “building” others up in Christ.   As they continue to step out in faith, they have seen God’s hand in many areas of their lives, and each and every season has further revealed God’s faithfulness and grace. They are excited to serve New Springs Church and their hometown.

Alex and Jessica Castelo

Alex and Jessica met in South Florida in November of 2015 through a mutual friend. Alex is forever grateful to this friend! Their friendship began to flourish as they spent a lot more time playing volleyball together with mutual friends. At the end of 2016 God unveiled both of their eyes and they realized they had a friendship like no other.

In February of 2017 they began to date. They became part of West Pines Community Church in Pembroke Pines, FL. They mountain biked, had their families meet, whooped friends at volleyball, and got whooped, too. Most importantly, they grew together in their relationship with the Lord and in May of 2018 they became engaged with one of the coolest proposals you will ever see. Alex cried. But we will keep that a secret.

Now, they are getting married on Saturday, September 1st! Both Alex and Jessica know they want to serve and glorify the Lord with the rest of their lives. They bought a home together in Tamarac, FL and decided to look for a local church that would allow them to invest into the community they are now moving into. Alex met Gavin and Brigitte a couple years back when Alex began to attend First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs. Gavin led a young adults' Bible study there and facilitated a lot of Alex’s growth in knowledge of the Lord before Gavin pursued the church planting residency at Spanish River at the end of 2016. Alex and Gavin found out they had the same favorite movie, A Goofy Movie and their friendship has been magic ever since!

Alex and Jessica heard Gavin and Brigitte were starting a church plant less then 10 minutes from where they were moving and doors continued to open. God's grace to Alex and Jessica has been amazing. They prayed about joining the church and as God gave them peace, followed by excitement, they decided to approach Gavin and Brigitte about joining. Now they are eager to be married and see what else God has in store for them!
